Amazon Now Requires Apparel Vendors Sending Samples for Photography to Use EDI

Amazon has been targeting the fashion industry for the past few years, and now as an apparel vendor doing business with Amazon, you will be required to use EDI to send your samples. You will receive a bulk P.O. (850) and immediately a “Top of Production” (T.O.P.) P.O. for one each of your styles to be shipped to their Brooklyn, NY facility for photography. A Shipment Notice (856) and Invoice (810) are also required. This will be required even if you do not want to be paid for the sample. The Shipment Notice is required because it’s used to “check-in”. Failure to send a Shipment Notice means a Chargeback is likely.

Second, you must confirm both the bulk and T.O.P. P.O. using a P.O. Acknowledgement (855) or through Vendor Central. Failure do this will also cause a Chargeback. The fashion photography studio is referred to as “PIJA” or JFK13 Studio or “Sienna”.

You receive the highest benefit from fulfilling the “Top of Production” P.O. promptly because PIJA will have more time to do their best work.
